Spruce - Black Hills

Picea glauca

In stock (328 items available)

The Black Hills Spruce is a very tough tree that is drought tolerant and disease resistant.  This conifer is shaped like a church steeple and has beautiful, short, blue-green needles.  A little more naturally bushy than some spruces, this evergreen shears very well and makes a great Christmas tree or ornamental specimen.  The Black Hills Spruce grows in a wide variety of soil types and growing conditions.  Its prickly and aromatic foliage contribute greatly to its natural deer resistance.

Our plants come with extra large and fibrous root systems, ready to plant and flourish!

Can the potted Black Hills Spruce tree be allowed to remain in the pot--instead of planting in the ground?

We would recommend planting all of our nursery stock directly into the ground. The plants we sell have the optimum root structure for the pot, and will adapt quickly to their new locations. Leaving plants in their pots too long can cause issues since the roots will outgrow the current size pot.
