Picea abies

Spruce - Norway

$17.95

The Norway Spruce is a true northwoods giant that can reach heights of 90 feet or more. This conifer has the same conical shape as the White Spruce, but exhibits the signature drooping branches of Norway Spruce as it matures. This fast growing evergreen is dark green with short, shiny, stiff needles. A common choice for windbreaks since its strong and flexible form can withstand winds of over 100 mph. The Norway Spruce tolerates dry locations better than other spruces, but prefers loamy, well drained locations. This tree is very adaptable to most conditions and naturally deer resistant.

Our plants come with extra large and fibrous root systems, ready to plant and flourish!

Care Tips

Care Tips - Growing:

Maintain a healthy mulch ring. Watering should be done at the base of the tree, directly into the soil. Avoid applying fertilizer in the fall as this may cause a new flush of growth that will not harden off for winter

Care Tips - Pruning:

No pruning needed, best left to grow naturally. Norway Spruce growth occurs in 2 stages: upwards then outwards. A young tree may look awkward with a long central leader that has no lateral branching do not shear

Care Tips - Soil:

Tolerant of many soils except excessively dry sites

Care Tips - Uses:

Specimen tree, Windbreak, Screen
